So Excited!

May 13th, 2010

As I type this I have butterflies in my stomach. I am so excited for this baby to arrive!

Tomorrow is my last day at work! Unbelievable!

John is equally excited! We can’t believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone. We can’t believe we’re going to be holding our child in our arms so soon… We can’t believe we’re going to be parents. We can’t believe we’re starting an entirely new chapter in our lives. Of course it’s the unknowns in our future that make me nervous as well as excited. What will our baby’s temperament be like? Will I be able to breastfeed okay? Will we adjust to the lack of sleep? Oh, and the big question… What are we going to name him?! That’s right, we still don’t have a name. During yoga last night I meditated, asking for a name to come to me. I’ve asked my grandmother, Bertie and my Opa who have both passed to send me a sign. It will come to us… It WILL come to us.

On the physical front I’m feeling pretty good this week. My joints are starting to ache a bit and my ring is starting to get tight on my finger, oh and you already know that I’m waddling… Other than that I’m pretty good. I’m sleeping well so that’s a great thing.

Now I just have to remind myself to take it moment by moment, day by day and not get ahead of myself (which is hard for me). That will be my mantra when the little guy arrives as well. Moment by moment, and soak it all in!

  3. I am so excited for you. I just had my first child in December and it is the best thing to ever happen to me. I truly never thought you could love someone this much. Its too hard to try to describe but I swear the moment you see and hold your little one for the first time your heart will feel something you have never ever felt before. Because you are getting so close my only advice to you is to get as much sleep as possible now while you can and I would suggest that you have the 'essentials' in your house for the aftermath. Have a good heating pad and tylenol and epsom salts for those fun butt bumps that pregnancy brings on (TMI). Also I found that having meals prepped in advance will help cause you are about to have no time for anything until you all get into a routine. And if you are planning on having your little man at the QCH you will be so well taken care of. They were amazingly awesome and helpful and caring. I wish you good luck and again I am so excited for you. Congrats

  4. josie, don't worry to much about a name. when you'll see your new bundle of joy, a name will come to you. you and john will look at eachother and it'll pop right up. your going to be a great mother and john will be a great father. and ofcourse you can't forget the best uncles in the world, mauler and rush lol
take it easy. enjoy your time alone before the baby comes cause after that, it's gonna be all about the baby. just relax and everything will fall into place.

  6. I thought the same thing as a previous poster : It WILL come to us... "William" sounds great!! Add along a meaningful middle name (or not, as we chose..lol). No matter what - his name will be perfect because you and john chose it and it will be all his!

Have fun during this last step - parenthood is so exciting and scary but taking everything in stride and following your own instincts is all you need to do :)

  7. Hi Josie,
I have just read up on your blogs and you can tell that your little boy is so lucky to be born into a large family full of love, and to have such an energetic mum (you will def need all that energy when he is a toddler and running all over the place :D ). I’m due in 2 months and I completely understand your excitement. What a wonderful and beautiful part of life.

I did want to offer you some resources that are just amazing. I’m not sure if you have heard of Dr. Karp, but he is the Author of a book called “The Happiest Baby on the Block” http://www.happiestbaby.com .. There is also a wonderful DVD to match http://www.happiestbaby.com/book-dvd-excerpts/the-happiest-baby-clips/ .

I went onto Youtube and watched his method in action and I think you should see his interview with AlphaMom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu0TtxO-ocY

Good luck with everything, and don’t feel shy to ask for help during that first week after your son is born. Family is a godsend

    Regards,

    R.E

  8. Good luck...naming a boy is soo hard. When my son was born last May it was down to the wire with our decision. We decided on Ewan but it was down to Finn and Nathaniel.
